Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your departure date from the Philippines
Philippine immigration strictly enforces the 6-month validity rule. If your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding by the airline. Carry a photocopy of your passport bio page as backup.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from the Philippines within 30 days
Immigration officers at Manila, Cebu, and Clark airports always ask for a confirmed onward ticket. A flight booking to a third country or back to Thailand works. Without one, expect to be questioned and potentially denied entry.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation letter
Officers occasionally ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a hotel reservation. A printed booking confirmation or a letter from a friend with their address is enough. Have it ready in your hand luggage.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash, bank statement, or credit card
Philippine immigration can ask for proof you can support yourself during your stay. Carry at least 20,000 PHP (roughly 13,000 THB) in cash or a recent bank statement. A credit card with a decent limit also works.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check passport validity at check-in. If your passport expires within 6 months of your entry date, you will not be allowed to board. No exceptions.
eTravel declaration required
Complete the online eTravel declaration within 72 hours before your flight. The QR code speeds up immigration. Skip this and you will be directed to a kiosk at the airport to do it on arrival.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare documents before departure
Check passport validity (6+ months from entry date). Print or save digital copies of return ticket, first night hotel booking, and travel insurance. Download an eSIM or buy a local SIM at the airport.
2
Arrive at a Philippine airport
You will land at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Manila), Mactan-Cebu International Airport, or another entry point. Follow signs to 'Foreign Passports' immigration counters.
3
Present documents to immigration officer
Hand over your passport and completed eTravel QR code. The officer may ask your purpose of visit, length of stay, and where you are staying. Answer clearly and briefly.
4
Receive entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with a 30-day visa-free entry. Check the stamp says '30 days' before leaving the counter. If it says less, ask for correction immediately.
5
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. Use the green channel if you have nothing to declare, red channel if you have items over the duty-free limit.
