Passport validity is strictly enforced
Taiwan requires 6 months of validity beyond your entry date. Turkish passports are checked carefully at Istanbul check-in. If you're close to expiry, renew before booking flights.
Print your eVisa — don't rely on your phone
Airline staff in Istanbul and immigration officers in Taipei want a paper copy. Phone batteries die, screens crack, and Wi-Fi isn't guaranteed. Print two copies.
No extension possible
The eVisa for Turkish citizens cannot be extended in Taiwan. Overstaying means fines starting at NT$10,000, possible detention, and a re-entry ban. Book your exit flight for before your visa expires.

Apply for the eVisa online
Go to Taiwan's Bureau of Consular Affairs eVisa portal and fill out the application. Upload a passport-style photo (white background, taken within 6 months) and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee by credit card. Processing typically takes 3–5 working days, so don't leave it to the last minute.

Print your approval
Once approved, download and print the eVisa. Print two copies — one for your carry-on, one for your checked bag. Save a PDF on your phone as backup, but paper is what airline staff and immigration want to see.

Check in at Istanbul Airport
At IST or SAW, the check-in agent will ask for your Taiwan visa. Show the printed eVisa. They'll verify it against the system. If your passport has less than 6 months validity, they will deny boarding — no exceptions.

Arrive at Taoyuan or Songshan
Fill out the arrival card on the plane (or use the electronic kiosk if available). Head to the foreign nationals queue at immigration. Hand over your passport, eVisa printout, and arrival card. Fingerprints and a photo are taken at the counter. Expect 15–30 minutes in line at peak times.

Collect your stamp and bags
