Electronic Travel Authorisation
Apply for your ETA-IL at israel-entry.piba.gov.il before departure. It's free and usually approved instantly. Since August 2024, all visa-exempt nationals must have an approved ETA-IL to board their flight.Apply for ETA-ILRequired
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay in Israel
Your passport needs to be valid for the full duration of your stay. Israel does not enforce a 6-month validity rule beyond your departure date, but your airline might — check with them before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Israel
Immigration officers at Ben Gurion Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready to show.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Keep a copy of your hotel reservation or a letter from your host. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it ready avoids delays at the border.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry a credit card or bank statement showing you have enough money for your stay. Immigration doesn't usually check this for short visits, but it's good to have on hand.Recommended
Passport validity is strict
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you enter Israel. Airlines check this before boarding, and immigration checks it on arrival. If your passport expires sooner, you will be denied entry.
Keep your entry slip
At passport control, you may receive a small entry slip (sometimes called a 'blue slip'). Keep it with your passport — you'll need to hand it back when you leave Israel. Losing it can cause delays at departure.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents before departure
Check your passport validity (6+ months from entry date), print or save your return ticket and first-night hotel booking, and arrange travel insurance. Also get a local SIM or eSIM so you have data immediately.
2
Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport (TLV)
Most flights from Taiwan land at Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv. Follow signs to 'Passport Control' — there are separate queues for Israeli citizens and foreign visitors. Join the visitors queue.
3
Present your passport to the immigration officer
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask your purpose of visit, where you're staying, and when you plan to leave. Answer clearly and briefly. They may also ask to see your return ticket or hotel booking — have them ready.
4
Receive your entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the date of entry and the allowed stay (usually 90 days). Do not lose the small entry slip they may give you — you'll need it when leaving.
5
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. There is usually nothing to declare for personal items. Exit into the arrivals hall.
