Bring USD cash — no ATMs before immigration
There are no ATMs before the visa counter. You must pay the visa fee in US dollars cash. Bring small bills ($10s and $20s) — officers rarely have change for $100s. If you don't have cash, you'll be sent back to the airline.

Prepare documents before landing
Have your passport, return ticket (screenshot), accommodation booking, and USD cash ready in your hand luggage. Fill out the arrival card on the plane if provided.

Queue at 'Visa on Arrival' counter
At Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) or Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO), follow signs to the Visa on Arrival counter. Hand over your passport and arrival card. The officer will process your visa — expect 5–15 minutes.

Pay the fee and receive visa
Pay the visa fee in USD cash. The officer will affix the visa sticker into your passport. Check the validity dates before leaving the counter.

Proceed to immigration
After getting your visa, join the immigration queue. Present your passport with the new visa. You may be asked for your return ticket or accommodation — have them ready.
