Tanzanian passport holders can get a visa on arrival at all land borders and Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. As of 2026, the process is straightforward — just bring cash (USD) and a passport photo. The visa is valid for up to 90 days, but you'll need to decide your stay length at the counter.

Visa on arrival
Visa on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport
Tanzanian passport holders can get a visa on arrival at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport. Have USD 30 in cash for a 15-day visa, USD 50 for 30 days, or USD 125 for 90 days. The visa counter accepts cash only — no cards.Check visa detailsRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months from arrival
Your passport needs at least 6 months of validity beyond your planned departure from Nepal. Airlines at departure check this strictly — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers at Kathmandu airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot of your booking ready. If you plan to exit overland, carry a bus or flight booking to the next country.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Nepal. Immigration may ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary. A simple booking confirmation from Booking.com or Agoda works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can cover your stay
Have at least USD 50 per day of your intended stay available in cash or on a card. Immigration rarely asks for proof, but having it ready avoids delays. ATMs are plentiful in Kathmandu and Pokhara.Recommended
Cash only at visa counter
The visa-on-arrival counter does not accept credit or debit cards. Bring crisp, undamaged US dollars in small denominations. ATMs are available after immigration, but you'll need cash first.
Photo booth available at airport
If you forget a passport photo, there's a photo booth near the visa counter at Tribhuvan International Airport. It costs about $5 USD. But it's faster to bring your own.
Visa on arrival is straightforward
The whole process at Kathmandu airport usually takes 15–30 minutes. Have your documents ready, and you'll be through quickly. No need to apply in advance.

What happens at the border

1
Fill out the arrival card
On the plane or at the airport, grab a white arrival card. Fill in your personal details, flight number, and hotel address. Keep it with your passport.
2
Queue at the visa-on-arrival counter
At Tribhuvan International Airport, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' after baggage claim. There's a self-service kiosk where you scan your passport, fill in the form, and get a receipt. Take that receipt to the cashier window, pay the fee, then proceed to the immigration officer.
3
Present documents to the officer
Hand over your passport, completed arrival card, visa receipt, and passport photo. The officer will ask your stay duration and purpose. Answer clearly. They'll stamp the visa and return your passport.
4
Collect baggage and exit
After immigration, head to baggage claim, then customs. You're free to enter Nepal.
