Return or onward ticket
Return ticket
Immigration at Cairo Airport asks for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or show it on your phone. Airlines also check this before departure from Ukraine.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking
Have a printed hotel booking or a letter of invitation for your entire stay. Immigration officers at Cairo sometimes ask for this during the visa-on-arrival process.Recommended
Proof of funds
Financial means
Carry at least $1,000 USD in cash or have a bank statement showing sufficient funds. Immigration rarely asks, but the visa officer may request proof of financial means.Recommended
Cash only at the visa kiosk
The bank kiosk before immigration only accepts cash — no cards. Bring USD 25 in crisp, unworn bills. Worn or marked notes may be rejected. ATMs are available after immigration, but you need cash before that point.
Visa on arrival is for tourism only
This visa is strictly for tourism. If you're traveling for work, study, or long-term stay, you need a visa from an Egyptian embassy before departure.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the airport and go to the bank kiosk
After landing, follow signs to 'Bank' or 'Visa on Arrival' before the immigration counters. At Cairo Airport, the kiosk is near the passport control hall. Pay USD 25 (or equivalent in EUR/GBP) and get a visa sticker.
2
Affix the sticker to your passport
The bank clerk will hand you the sticker. Peel and stick it onto a blank page in your passport. Don't lose it — it's your entry permit.
3
Proceed to immigration
Join the queue for foreign passports. Hand over your passport with the sticker, your boarding pass, and if asked, your return ticket and hotel booking. The officer will stamp you in.
