RequirementDetailsStatus
ETA-IL applicationETA-IL: Israel's Electronic Travel Authorisation, mandatory for all visa-exempt nationals since August 2024. Apply free at israel-entry.piba.gov.il — usually approved instantly.
Electronic Travel Authorisation
Apply for your ETA-IL at israel-entry.piba.gov.il before you fly. It's free and usually approved instantly — you get a confirmation email. Since August 2024, all visa-exempt nationals including Ukrainian passport holders need this to board.Apply for ETA-ILRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for duration of stay
Your Ukrainian passport needs to be valid for the entire time you're in Israel. No minimum validity beyond your departure date is required by law, but airlines sometimes enforce 6 months — check with your carrier before booking.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Israel
Immigration officers at Ben Gurion Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket showing you leave within 90 days. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they check this at the passport control booth.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter from your host with their contact details. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it speeds things up if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or credit card showing you have enough money for your stay. There's no fixed minimum, but around 1,500 ILS per week is a safe benchmark. Officers almost never ask for it for short visits.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive in Israel. Airlines check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding. Renew it before you book your flight.
Keep your entry stamp safe
The entry stamp shows your 90-day allowance. If you lose your passport or the stamp fades, visit the Population and Immigration Authority office in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem to get a replacement stamp before you leave.
eSIM saves time at the airport
Instead of queuing at Ben Gurion for a local SIM, install an Airalo eSIM before you fly. It activates automatically when you land — you'll have data immediately for maps, taxis, and WhatsApp.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Before you leave home, check your passport validity (6+ months from arrival). Book your return/onward ticket and first night's accommodation. Save screenshots of both on your phone.
2
Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport (TLV)
Most flights land at Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv. Follow signs to 'Passport Control' — there are separate queues for Israeli citizens and foreigners. Join the 'Foreign Passports' line.
3
Present your passport and answer questions
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask: purpose of visit, where you're staying, how long you plan to stay, and when you're leaving. Answer honestly and briefly. Have your return ticket and accommodation details ready if asked.
4
Receive entry stamp
If everything is in order, you'll get an entry stamp valid for up to 90 days. Keep the stamp visible — you'll need it when leaving. The whole process usually takes 5–15 minutes.
5
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, head to baggage claim, then customs. Unless you're carrying large amounts of cash or restricted items, you'll walk straight through the green 'Nothing to Declare' channel.

You will likely be denied boarding by the airline or refused entry at Ben Gurion Airport. Renew your passport before traveling. The 6-month validity is strictly enforced.
No, the visa-free entry is for tourism and business meetings only. If you plan to work for an Israeli employer or stay longer than 90 days, you need a proper work visa. Yes, you can enter via the Allenby Bridge from Jordan or the Taba border from Egypt. The same visa-free rules apply — 90 days. The process is similar to the airport, but expect longer queues at Allenby Bridge.
Overstaying is taken seriously. You may be fined (around 1,000 ILS for the first month), detained, and banned from re-entering Israel for a period. Always leave on time.
If you're transiting through Ben Gurion Airport and staying airside (not passing through passport control), you don't need a visa. But if you want to leave the airport, you need the same visa-free entry rules — 90 days.
