Ukrainian passport holders can get a Visa on Arrival (VoA) when landing in Indonesia. The process is straightforward and available at all major airports and seaports. As of 2026, the VoA costs 500,000 IDR (about $32 USD) and allows a 30-day stay, extendable once for another 30 days.

Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date
Indonesia strictly enforces the 6-month passport validity rule. Airlines at Kyiv Boryspil check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for visa on arrival
Immigration at Soekarno-Hatta and Ngurah Rai always asks for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone. Airlines also check this before departure.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Immigration officers often ask for your hotel address or booking confirmation. Have a printed copy or a screenshot of your reservation ready. A simple booking confirmation email works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or bank statement
Officers may ask to see proof of sufficient funds — around $1,000 USD equivalent in cash or a bank statement. Carry a mix of USD and Indonesian rupiah for convenience.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry. Airlines check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you won't be allowed to fly.
VoA is available at all major entry points
You can get a VoA at 26 airports, 8 seaports, and 4 land borders. The main ones are Jakarta (CGK), Bali (DPS), Surabaya (SUB), and Medan (KNO). Smaller airports may not have VoA — check before you book.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Immigration
After landing at any major Indonesian airport (Jakarta, Bali, Surabaya, etc.), follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' or 'Immigration'. You'll see a counter before the main immigration booths.
2
Pay the Fee and Get Your VoA
Hand over your passport and pay 500,000 IDR. The officer will issue a visa sticker and stamp. Keep the receipt — you'll need it for the extension if you plan to stay longer.
3
Proceed to Immigration Check
Go to the main immigration counter with your passport (now with the VoA sticker), boarding pass, and return ticket. The officer may ask your purpose of visit and where you're staying.
4
Collect Your Luggage and Exit
After clearing immigration, collect your bags and proceed through customs. You're now legally in Indonesia for up to 30 days.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, you can extend it once for another 30 days. Go to an immigration office (Kantor Imigrasi) before your first 30 days expire. The extension costs about 500,000 IDR and takes 3-5 working days. You'll need your passport, the original VoA receipt, a passport photo, and proof of funds.
For stays over 60 days, you need a different visa — either a Social/Cultural Visa (B-211) or a Business Visa. These must be arranged before travel through an Indonesian embassy or a visa agent. They allow up to 180 days total.
Technically no — immigration requires proof of onward travel. In practice, some travellers buy a refundable ticket or a cheap onward flight to a nearby country (like Malaysia or Singapore) and cancel it later. But this is risky — if the officer checks and finds no valid ticket, you could be denied entry.
Cash is most reliable — Indonesian Rupiah (IDR), US Dollars, or Euros. Credit cards are accepted at many counters but not all. If paying in foreign currency, expect a slightly worse exchange rate. Have 500,000 IDR in cash to be safe.
No mandatory vaccinations for entry. But the CDC and WHO recommend Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and routine vaccines. Yellow fever vaccine is required only if you're arriving from a country with yellow fever.
Overstaying costs 1,000,000 IDR (about $65 USD) per day, capped at a maximum fine. You'll also be flagged and may face deportation. Always extend or leave before your 30 days are up.
No. The VoA is for tourism, transit, or short business meetings. Any paid work — including remote work for a foreign company — is technically illegal. For work, you need a proper work permit (KITAS).
