Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover your full stay
At least 6 months validity beyond your entry date. Minimum 1 blank page for the entry stamp. Airlines may deny boarding if validity is too close.Required
Return or onward ticket
Officers check this regularly
A confirmed flight out of the country. Immigration may ask to see this — have a screenshot ready on your phone. An onward ticket from a neighbouring country also works.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel name or address
A hotel booking confirmation, or the address of where you are staying. The arrival form often asks for this. A Booking.com or Airbnb confirmation email is fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Rarely checked
Immigration officers may ask you to demonstrate sufficient funds for your stay. A credit card or bank statement usually suffices.Recommended
Visa required — apply before you fly
Ukrainian passport holders cannot enter Taiwan without a pre-approved visa. There is no visa on arrival or visa waiver. Apply at least 2 weeks before your trip.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Taiwan, not from your departure date. If it expires sooner, renew it first.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for a visa online
Go to the Taiwan Visa Application website (visawebapp.boca.gov.tw) and submit your application. You'll need to upload your passport scan, photo, travel itinerary, and accommodation details. Processing typically takes 5–7 working days.
2
Wait for approval and receive your visa
Once approved, you'll receive a visa certificate by email. Print it out and carry it with your passport. Some nationalities can get an e-visa, but for Ukraine it's a standard visa sticker or certificate.
3
Arrive at a Taiwanese airport
You'll land at Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) or Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH). Go to the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Have your passport, printed visa, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation ready. The officer may ask a few questions about your trip.
4
Get your entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with your entry date and the duration of stay (typically up to 30 days, depending on your visa). Keep the stamp visible — you'll need it when you leave.
