Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before departure
Apply for an Indian eVisa at indianvisaonline.gov.in at least 4 days before travel. Fees range from $25 to $80 USD depending on visa type (tourist, business, medical). Approval usually arrives within 72 hours — print the approval letter and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have 6+ months validity
Your Uzbekistan passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from your date of arrival in India. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Immigration may ask for proof
Indian immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward flight ticket at passport control. Have a printed copy or a screenshot of your booking ready — they will check the date matches your eVisa validity.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in India. Immigration rarely asks for it, but having it ready avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can cover your stay
Have a bank statement or credit card showing you have enough funds for your trip. Indian immigration does not enforce a specific minimum amount, but they may ask if you look underprepared.Recommended
eVisa is not extendable
Once your eVisa expires, you must leave India. Overstaying can result in fines, deportation, or a ban on future travel. Set a reminder to leave a day or two before the expiry.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa, passport photo, return ticket, and hotel booking as PDFs on your phone and in cloud storage. If you lose your phone, you'll still have access.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to indianvisaonline.gov.in, fill out the application, upload your passport photo and passport scan, and pay the fee. Processing usually takes 3-5 business days. You'll receive the eVisa by email.
2
Print and save your eVisa
Once approved, print a paper copy and save a PDF on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival.
3
Arrive at an Indian airport
eVisa holders can enter through 28 designated airports including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, and Goa. At immigration, join the 'eVisa' queue, present your passport and eVisa, and have your return ticket and accommodation details ready if asked.
4
Get your passport stamped
The immigration officer will stamp your passport with the entry date and allowed stay. Check the stamp before leaving the counter — make sure the dates are correct.
