What happens at the border

1
Apply for your ETA online
Go to https://eta.gov.lk/ and fill out the application. You'll need your passport details, travel dates, and a way to pay (credit/debit card). The site is straightforward and takes about 10 minutes.
2
Wait for approval
Most ETAs are approved within 24–48 hours. You'll receive an email confirmation. Print it or save it on your phone — you'll need to show it at check-in and possibly at immigration.
3
Check in and fly
At the airport, show your passport and ETA confirmation. The airline will verify your ETA before issuing a boarding pass. Make sure your passport has that blank page.
4
Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB)
After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Arrivals'. Have your passport, ETA, and return ticket ready. The officer will stamp your passport — that stamp is your entry permission. You'll be allowed to stay up to 30 days.
5
Collect your bags and exit
After clearing immigration, proceed to baggage claim and then customs. If you have nothing to declare, walk through the green channel. You're in Sri Lanka!

Usually 24–48 hours. In some cases it can be instant, but it's best to apply at least 3–5 days before your flight to avoid stress.
No, the ETA is not extendable. If you need to stay longer, you'd have to leave and re-enter, or apply for a different visa type before you travel.
Only if you're arriving from a country with yellow fever risk. Uzbekistan isn't one, so you likely don't need it. But if you've traveled through Africa or South America recently, bring your vaccination certificate.
No. Sri Lankan immigration enforces the 6-month rule strictly. If your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied entry. Renew your passport before you go.
Rejections are rare but can happen. You can reapply, but check your details for errors first. If it's urgent, contact the Sri Lankan embassy or consulate in your region for help.
No. The ETA is an online pre-approval. There is no visa-on-arrival facility for Uzbek citizens — you must have the ETA before you board your flight.
