What happens at the border

Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Tanzania eVisa portal (visa.immigration.go.tz). Fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50 USD for a single-entry tourist visa) with a credit or debit card.

Wait for approval
Processing usually takes 3–5 business days, but can take up to 10. You'll receive the eVisa by email as a PDF. Print a copy and save it on your phone.

Arrive at the airport
At Julius Nyerere International Airport (Dar es Salaam) or Kilimanjaro International Airport, go to the immigration counter. Present your passport, printed eVisa, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in.

Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel and proceed through customs. If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel.
