Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Colombian passport holders need an eVisa for Taiwan. Apply at the Taiwan eVisa Portal at least 7 days before departure. The application asks for passport details, travel dates, and a digital photo — approval usually takes 3–5 working days.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport needs at least 6 months of validity beyond your intended departure from Taiwan. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Taoyuan Airport routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. A printed itinerary or a digital copy on your phone works — just have it ready before you reach the counter.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed or digital hotel reservation for your entire stay. If staying with friends or family, have their name, address, and phone number written down — officers sometimes ask for this.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Have a recent bank statement or enough cash/credit available to cover your stay. There is no fixed minimum, but showing you can support yourself without working avoids delays.Recommended
Passport validity is critical
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Taiwan. If it expires sooner, your eVisa will be rejected. Check your passport now.
eVisa is single entry only
The eVisa allows one entry. If you leave Taiwan (even to nearby countries like Japan or Hong Kong), you'll need a new eVisa to re-enter.

Rejections are rare but can happen if your documents are incomplete or your passport doesn't meet the validity requirement. You can reapply after fixing the issue. There's no appeal process.
No, Taiwan does not require proof of funds for Colombian eVisa holders. However, immigration may ask about your travel plans, so be ready to explain your itinerary.
No. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry. If it's close to expiring, renew it before applying for the eVisa.
No, it's not required for the application or entry. But it's strongly recommended because medical costs in Taiwan are high and your home insurance likely won't cover you abroad.
Overstaying can result in fines, deportation, and a ban from re-entering Taiwan. If you realize you'll overstay, contact the National Immigration Agency in Taipei immediately to discuss options.
