Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your departure date from Thailand
Your passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from the day you leave Thailand. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of travel out of Thailand within 60 days
Immigration officers at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Budget airlines are especially strict — have a printed or digital copy of your outbound flight within 60 days ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Immigration may ask where you are staying on arrival. Have a hotel confirmation, Airbnb booking, or a letter from your host with their address and phone number ready.Recommended
Proof of funds
Minimum 20,000 THB per person or 40,000 THB per family
Immigration can request proof you have at least 20,000 THB (around $550 USD) per person or 40,000 THB per family. Cash, a bank statement, or a credit card showing available credit works.Recommended
Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)TDAC
Optional online pre-registration to speed up immigration
TDAC is a free 2-minute online form at tdac.immigration.go.th. Fill it in before your flight and you get a QR code that lets you use the faster immigration lane at major airports. Not mandatory, but saves time.Register for TDACOptional
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines and Thai immigration both check that your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your entry date. If it's close to expiry, renew before you book.
TDAC saves time at immigration
The Thailand Digital Arrival Card is free and optional. Completing it online before your flight means you can skip the paper form and often use a faster lane at major airports like Suvarnabhumi (BKK).

What happens at the border

1
Prepare documents before flying
Check your passport validity (6+ months from entry date). Book a return or onward ticket. Save a screenshot of your flight booking and first night's accommodation. Optionally complete the TDAC online form.
2
At the departure airport
The airline check-in agent will verify your passport validity and onward ticket. They may also ask for proof of accommodation. If everything's in order, you'll get your boarding pass.
3
Arrival at a Thai airport (BKK, DMK, Phuket, etc.)
Follow signs to 'Passport Control' or 'Immigration'. Join the foreign passport queue. Have your passport and boarding pass ready. If you completed TDAC, show the QR code (optional). The officer will stamp you in for up to 60 days.
4
After immigration
Collect your luggage, then proceed to customs (green channel for most travellers). Exit into the arrivals hall. Your 60-day stay starts from the date of the entry stamp.

Frequently asked questions

No, the visa-free entry for Croatian passport holders is not extendable. You must leave Thailand within 60 days. If you want to stay longer, you'd need to apply for a tourist visa (single or multiple entry) from a Thai embassy or consulate before travel, or leave and re-enter (though border runs are increasingly scrutinized).
Officially, immigration can ask for proof of at least 20,000 THB per person or 40,000 THB per family (cash, traveller's cheques, or bank statement). In practice, this is rarely requested for visa-free travellers from Croatia, but it's smart to have a credit card and some cash just in case.
You will likely be denied boarding by the airline or refused entry by Thai immigration. The 6-month rule is strictly enforced. Renew your passport before travel.
Yes, Croatian passport holders can enter visa-free at any international land border checkpoint. The same 60-day stay applies. However, border crossings are sometimes more closely scrutinized — have your onward ticket and accommodation details ready.
Yes, as of 2026, the Thailand Digital Arrival Card is not mandatory. But completing it online before your flight can speed up the immigration queue. If you don't fill it out, you'll just fill in a paper arrival card on the plane or at the airport.
Overstay is fined at 500 THB per day (up to 20,000 THB). Overstays of more than 90 days can result in a ban from re-entering Thailand. It's best to leave on time or apply for a visa extension before your 60 days are up (though extensions are not available for visa-free entries).
If you're transiting through a Thai airport and staying airside (not passing immigration), you don't need a visa. If you plan to leave the airport during a layover, the visa-free entry applies — just meet the same passport and ticket requirements.
