Croatian passport holders need an eVisa to enter Vietnam in 2026. The eVisa is valid for up to 90 days and allows single or multiple entries. You must apply online before you travel.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply at the official Vietnam eVisa portal at evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn. The fee is $25 USD for single or multiple entry, valid for up to 90 days. Processing takes 3 working days — do not book flights until approved.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your Croatian passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Vietnam. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Vietnam
Immigration officers at Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat routinely ask for a confirmed onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight out of Vietnam ready — a bus or train ticket to Cambodia also works.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Vietnam. Immigration may ask for it if you look uncertain about where you are staying.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have access to at least $500 USD in cash, a credit card, or a bank statement. Officers rarely check this for Croatian passport holders, but it helps if asked.Recommended
eVisa is not extendable
The eVisa cannot be extended. If you want to stay longer than 90 days, you must leave Vietnam and reapply. Overstaying even by a day can result in fines and a black mark on your record.
Apply early — processing can be slow
While the official processing time is 3–5 working days, it can take longer during peak travel seasons or Vietnamese holidays. Apply at least 2 weeks before your trip to avoid stress.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Vietnam eVisa website (evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn). Fill in your personal details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport data page. Pay the fee (around $25 USD for single entry, $50 for multiple entry). Processing takes 3–5 working days.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get an email with your eVisa as a PDF. Print a paper copy and also save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival.
3
Arrive at a Vietnamese airport
You can enter Vietnam through any international airport: Hanoi (Noi Bai), Ho Chi Minh City (Tan Son Nhat), Da Nang, etc. At immigration, present your passport and printed eVisa. The officer will stamp you in. Keep the entry stamp safe — you'll need it when leaving.
4
Prepare for the immigration queue
At busy airports like Tan Son Nhat, the queue can take 30–60 minutes. Have your passport, eVisa, and return ticket ready. Some officers may ask for your hotel address — have it on your phone.

Frequently asked questions

Processing usually takes 3–5 working days. Apply at least a week before your flight to be safe. The official website says 3 working days, but delays happen. You'll get an email when it's approved.
No, the eVisa is not extendable. If you want to stay longer, you must leave Vietnam and apply for a new eVisa, or apply for a visa on arrival through a travel agency before your current visa expires. Overstaying can result in fines of around $50–100 USD per day.
You won't be allowed to board your flight. The 6-month validity is strictly enforced. Renew your passport before applying for the eVisa. If your passport expires in 5 months, you'll be denied entry.
Yes, immigration officers often ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready. A one-way ticket without a visa extension plan can get you denied entry.
Yes, the eVisa is accepted at all international airports and most land border crossings. Check the official list of approved border gates on the eVisa website. Some remote land crossings may not accept eVisa — stick to major ones like Moc Bai (Cambodia) or Lao Cai (China).
Rejections are rare but can happen if your photo doesn't meet requirements or your passport scan is unclear. You'll get an email explaining the reason. You can reapply with corrected documents. The fee is non-refundable. If you're unsure, use a reputable visa agency.
If you stay in the international transit area and don't pass through immigration, you don't need a visa. But if you want to leave the airport, you need an eVisa or a visa on arrival. Transit times over 24 hours may require a visa even if you don't leave the airport.
