South Korean passport holders can get a Visa on Arrival (VoA) for tourism, business, or transit stays in Indonesia. The VoA costs IDR 500,000 (about USD 35), is valid for 30 days, and can be extended once for another 30 days. This has been the standard procedure since 2024.

Visa on arrival
Visa on arrival
Get your visa on arrival at Indonesian airports and seaports. Pay $35 USD in cash (exact change) at the visa-on-arrival counter before immigration. The visa allows 30 days — you cannot extend it, so plan your exit date carefully.Apply onlineRequired
Valid passport
Passport validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Indonesia. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket out of Indonesia. Have a printed or digital copy ready — a flight booking confirmation works. If you overstay, the fine is 1,000,000 IDR (~$65 USD) per day.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking
Have your hotel reservation or accommodation address ready. Immigration may ask where you are staying — a booking confirmation on your phone is fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient funds
Carry at least $1,000 USD in cash or show a bank statement. Immigration rarely checks this for short visits, but having it ready avoids delays.Recommended
Cash is king at some airports
While major airports accept cards, smaller airports and seaports may only take cash. Always carry IDR 500,000 in cash per person to avoid delays.
VoA is for tourism only
The Visa on Arrival is strictly for tourism, transit, or short business meetings. If you plan to work, study, or do journalism, you need a different visa arranged beforehand.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at VoA counter
After deplaning, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' or 'VoA' counters. These are located before immigration at all major airports (CGK, DPS, SUB, etc.). Join the queue, present your passport and return ticket if asked.
2
Pay the fee and get sticker
Pay IDR 500,000 in cash (preferred) or by card. The officer will issue a receipt and affix the VoA sticker into your passport. Keep the receipt — you may need it for the extension.
3
Proceed to immigration
After getting the sticker, go to the immigration counter. Hand over your passport with the VoA sticker, and your arrival card (if given on the plane). The officer will stamp you in for 30 days.
4
Collect luggage and exit
Once stamped, collect your bags from baggage claim and proceed through customs. If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel.

Overstaying costs IDR 1,000,000 per day (about USD 65). Pay at the immigration office before departure. Overstays beyond 60 days can lead to deportation and a ban.
VoA is available at all major international airports: Jakarta (CGK), Bali (DPS), Surabaya (SUB), Medan (KNO), Makassar (UPG), Yogyakarta (YIA), and others. It's also available at major seaports like Batam and Tanjung Pinang.
Yes, you'll be given a paper arrival card on the plane or at the airport. Fill it out before queuing. Some airports now use an electronic arrival card (e-CD) — check the airline's instructions.
Yes, most major airports accept Visa and Mastercard. But cash (IDR) is more reliable — card machines sometimes go down. Bring IDR 500,000 in cash as a backup.
For stays over 60 days, you need a different visa — either a Social Visa (B211) or a Business Visa. These must be arranged before travel through an Indonesian embassy or a visa agent. They allow up to 180 days.
Only if you're arriving from a country with yellow fever risk (e.g., parts of Africa or South America). Otherwise, no. No other vaccines are mandatory for entry.
