Kuwaiti passport holders need an eVisa to visit Vietnam in 2026. The entire process is online — no embassy visit required. Apply at least a week before your flight, as approval takes a few business days.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply at the official Vietnam eVisa portal at evisa.xuatnhhcanh.gov.vn. The fee is $25 USD for single entry or $50 USD for multiple entry, valid for up to 90 days. Processing takes 3 working days — do not book flights until you receive the approval letter.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the entire stay
Your Kuwaiti passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Vietnam. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Vietnam
Immigration officers at Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat routinely ask for a confirmed onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight out of Vietnam ready — they will check the date matches your eVisa validity.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Vietnam. Immigration may ask for it at arrival, especially if you are staying at a private address rather than a hotel.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can cover your stay
Have a bank statement or credit card showing at least $500 USD equivalent. Officers rarely ask, but if you look underprepared they may request proof you can pay for accommodation and food.Recommended
eVisa is not extendable
The eVisa cannot be extended or renewed inside Vietnam. If you overstay, you'll face fines and possible deportation. Plan your exit date carefully.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa PDF, passport scan, hotel booking, and return ticket in a cloud folder (Google Drive, iCloud). If you lose your phone or papers, you can still access them.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Vietnamese eVisa portal (evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn). Fill in your personal details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport info page. Pay the fee online (around $25 USD). Processing takes 3–5 business days. You'll receive the approval via email as a PDF.
2
Print your eVisa and pack documents
Print the eVisa approval letter. Also print or save on your phone: your return ticket, hotel booking confirmation, and travel insurance certificate. Keep these together in a folder.
3
Arrive at a Vietnamese airport
At the airport (e.g., Noi Bai in Hanoi, Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh City), head to the immigration counter. Hand over your passport, printed eVisa, and boarding pass. The officer will stamp you in. No separate visa-on-arrival letter or photo booth needed.
4
Proceed to baggage claim and exit
After the stamp, collect your luggage and walk through customs. If asked, show your hotel booking and return ticket. That's it — you're in.
