eVisa application
Apply before travel
Sri Lankan passport holders need an eVisa to enter Indonesia. Apply online at the official Indonesia eVisa portal (molina.imigrasi.go.id) — processing takes 2–3 working days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport to immigration.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of arrival in Indonesia. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they want to see you leave Indonesia within your visa validity.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Indonesia. Immigration may ask where you are staying — having a booking confirmation speeds things up.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or cash equivalent to at least $1,000 USD (or IDR equivalent) for your stay. Immigration rarely asks, but if they do, you need to show you are not working illegally.Recommended
Passport validity is strict
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Indonesia. Airlines check this before boarding — no exceptions.
eVisa is the easiest option
Skip the visa-on-arrival queue by applying online at molina.imigrasi.go.id. It costs about USD 35 and takes 1-3 days.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to molina.imigrasi.go.id and fill out the eVisa application. Upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around IDR 500,000, about USD 35). Processing takes 1-3 business days.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
You'll get the eVisa by email as a PDF. Print it out and keep a digital copy on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival.
3
Arrive at an Indonesian airport
At the airport, go to the 'eVisa' or 'Foreign Passport' queue. Hand over your passport, printed eVisa, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in. Typical entry is 30 days.
4
Complete the electronic arrival declaration
Before or on arrival, fill out the online customs declaration at beacukai.go.id. You'll get a QR code — show it at the customs exit. It's quick and free.
