Apply early — no visa on arrival
Mozambique passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival in Thailand. You must apply for an e-Visa online at least a week before travel. Last-minute applications risk missing your flight.
TDAC saves time at the airport
The Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) is free and optional, but filling it out online before you fly can cut your immigration queue time significantly. Do it at tdac.immigration.go.th.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for e-Visa online
Go to thaievisa.go.th, create an account, fill in the application, upload your documents (passport scan, photo, flight itinerary, hotel booking), and pay the fee. Processing takes 3–5 business days.
2
Receive approval and print
You'll get an approval letter by email. Print it out — you'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival.
3
Check-in at departure airport
At Maputo or any other departure airport, the airline will check your e-Visa approval and onward ticket before issuing your boarding pass.
4
Arrive at Thai immigration
At Bangkok (BKK/DMK), Phuket, or Chiang Mai, join the 'Foreign Passport' queue. Hand over your passport, printed e-Visa approval, and boarding pass. The officer stamps you in — usually 60 days.
5
Complete TDAC (optional but recommended)
Before arrival, fill in the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card at tdac.immigration.go.th. It's not mandatory, but it can speed up the queue.

Frequently asked questions

No. Mozambique is not on the list of countries eligible for visa on arrival. You must apply for an e-Visa before you travel.
Typically 3–5 business days. Apply at least a week before your departure to be safe. The fee is around 2,000 THB (about 1,200 MZN), but check the current rate on thaievisa.go.th.
The standard e-Visa allows a single entry for up to 60 days. You can extend it once for another 30 days at a Thai immigration office (cost 1,900 THB).
Overstay costs 500 THB per day, up to a maximum of 20,000 THB. Overstaying more than 90 days gets you banned from re-entering for 1 year. Don't risk it — extend or leave on time.
It's not officially required for e-Visa holders, but carrying at least 20,000 THB (or equivalent in cash or card) is a good idea in case an officer asks.
Yes. The e-Visa is valid at all international airports and land border crossings. Just show your printed approval letter and passport.
Rejections are rare if you submit correct documents. Common reasons: passport validity under 6 months, incomplete flight or hotel bookings, or criminal record. You can reapply after fixing the issue.
