Mozambican passport holders must get an e-visa to enter Vietnam. The entire application is online, and approval usually takes 3–5 working days. As of 2026, this is the standard way to enter for tourism or short business trips.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply at the official Vietnam eVisa portal at evisa.xuatnhhapcanh.gov.vn. The fee is $25 USD, processing takes 3 working days. You get a single or multiple entry visa valid for up to 90 days.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your passport needs to be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Vietnam. Airlines check this at check-in, and immigration officers enforce it strictly.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at the border. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight itinerary ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or an invitation letter from your host. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or credit card showing at least $500 USD equivalent. Officers almost never check this for short visits, but it's safer to have it.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive in Vietnam, not from your departure date. If it expires sooner, renew it before applying for the e-visa.
Print your e-visa before you fly
Airlines may refuse boarding if you don't have a printed copy of your approved e-visa. Keep a second copy in your carry-on just in case.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the e-visa online
Go to the official Vietnam e-visa portal (evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn). Fill in your personal details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport data page, and pay the fee (typically around $25 USD). Processing takes 3–5 working days.
2
Receive and print your e-visa
Once approved, you'll get a PDF e-visa by email. Print two copies — one to present at check-in and one for immigration on arrival.
3
Arrive at a Vietnamese airport
Present your printed e-visa, passport, and completed arrival card (usually handed out on the plane) at the immigration counter. The officer will stamp your passport and let you through. Major airports include Noi Bai (Hanoi), Tan Son Nhat (Ho Chi Minh City), and Da Nang.

Frequently asked questions

The standard e-visa allows a single entry for up to 30 days. It cannot be extended. If you want to stay longer, you'll need to leave and re-enter, or apply for a different visa type before travel.
No. The e-visa is only valid at specific entry points — usually international airports (Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, etc.) and some land borders. Check the official list on the e-visa portal before you travel.
Rejections are rare but can happen if your photo doesn't meet requirements or your passport has less than 6 months validity. You'll lose the application fee. You can reapply with corrected documents, or contact the nearest Vietnamese embassy for a visa on arrival.
It's not a standard requirement for e-visa holders, but immigration officers can ask for proof of sufficient funds (cash or bank statement) if they suspect you can't support yourself. Having a credit card and some cash is wise.
No. You must apply from outside Vietnam. The e-visa is for entry only. If you're already in Vietnam and want to extend your stay, you'll need to visit an immigration office or leave the country.
The fee is about $25 USD, payable online by credit or debit card during the application. There are no additional charges at the airport.
The e-visa is accepted at certain land border crossings like Moc Bai (from Cambodia) and Lao Cai (from China). Check the official list before you travel. If your crossing isn't listed, you'll need a different visa.
