Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply for a Cambodia eVisa at evisa.gov.kh. The fee is $30 USD, and processing takes 3 working days. Print the approval letter and bring it with your passport to immigration.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date
Your Dutch passport needs at least 6 months of validity from your date of entry into Cambodia. Immigration officers at Phnom Penh and Siem Reap airports check this strictly.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Cambodia
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward flight ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your booking ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or an invitation letter from your host. Immigration may ask for it, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked hotel.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient cash or bank statement
Have at least $500 USD in cash or a bank statement showing available funds. Immigration officers rarely ask, but it helps if questioned.Recommended
Cash only — no cards
The visa-on-arrival fee must be paid in US dollars cash. There are ATMs at the airport, but they're after immigration. Bring $30–$50 in small bills ($1s, $5s, $10s) to avoid problems with change.
Photo not required at some borders
At Phnom Penh and Siem Reap airports, they'll take your photo digitally for an extra $1–$2. But at land borders, you'll definitely need a physical photo. Bring one just in case.

What happens at the border

1
Fill out the arrival form
On the plane or at the border, you'll get a Cambodia arrival card and a visa application form. Fill both out in capital letters. You'll need your passport details, flight number, and hotel address.
2
Queue at the visa-on-arrival counter
At Phnom Penh (PNH) or Siem Reap (REP) airports, look for the 'Visa on Arrival' counter before immigration. Hand over your passport, the completed form, one passport photo, and $30 USD. The officer will process it — usually takes 5–10 minutes.
3
Collect your visa and proceed to immigration
Once the visa sticker is in your passport, walk to the immigration booth. The officer will stamp you in. Keep the departure card they give you — you'll need it when you leave.

Frequently asked questions

No, the 30-day tourist visa on arrival cannot be extended. If you want to stay longer, you'll need to leave the country and re-enter, or apply for an ordinary visa (E-class) at a Cambodian embassy before you travel. Overstaying costs $10 per day.
Visa on arrival is available at most major land crossings with Thailand, Vietnam, and Laos. The process is the same — fill out the form, pay $30, show a photo. But some smaller crossings may not offer it, so check in advance. Popular ones like Poipet (from Thailand) and Bavet (from Vietnam) definitely do.
Yes, at the main international ports like Sihanoukville. The process is identical to airports. Just have your passport, photo, and $30 ready.
If you're staying airside and not clearing immigration, you don't need a visa. But if you plan to leave the transit area — even for a few hours — you'll need a visa on arrival or an e-visa.
Both cost $30 and allow a 30-day stay. The e-visa is applied for online before you travel (processing takes about 3 business days) and lets you skip the visa-on-arrival queue. But you must enter through specific airports and land borders — check the official e-visa site for the list. The visa on arrival works at all entry points.
You'll be fined $10 per day at immigration when you leave. Pay in USD cash. Overstays of more than 30 days can result in a blacklist, so don't push it.
No. Tourist visas don't permit any kind of work, including remote work for a foreign company. If you're planning to work in Cambodia, you need an ordinary visa (E-class) and a work permit.
