Dutch passport holders can get a Visa on Arrival (VoA) when landing in Indonesia in 2026. It costs 500,000 IDR (about €30) and is valid for 30 days. You can extend it once for another 30 days at any immigration office.

Visa on arrival
Visa on arrival at Indonesian airports
Get your visa on arrival at major Indonesian airports like Jakarta, Bali, Surabaya, and Medan. Pay the fee in cash (USD or IDR) — $35 USD for 30 days. Have your return ticket and hotel booking ready at the counter.Apply onlineRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your stay
Your passport needs at least 6 months of validity remaining from your date of entry. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Indonesia
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at the visa-on-arrival counter. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight out of Indonesia before you land.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Officers may ask where you are staying. Have your hotel confirmation or a letter from a host ready. A simple booking printout or phone screenshot works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient money for your stay
Immigration can ask for proof of funds — have at least $1,000 USD or equivalent in cash, bank statement, or credit card. I have never been asked, but keep a bank statement on your phone just in case.Recommended
Cash only at VoA counters
The Visa on Arrival fee must be paid in Indonesian rupiah cash. Cards are not accepted at most airports. Have 500,000 IDR ready in exact or near-exact change. ATMs are available after immigration, but you'll need cash before that.
Extension process takes time
If you plan to extend your VoA, start the process at least 7 days before your initial 30 days expire. You'll need to visit an immigration office in person, fill out forms, and pay the fee. The extension takes 3–5 working days.

What happens at the border

1
Land and follow signs to VoA
After deplaning, follow the 'Visa on Arrival' or 'VoA' signs. At major airports like Jakarta (CGK) or Bali (DPS), there are dedicated counters before immigration.
2
Pay the VoA fee
Hand over your passport and 500,000 IDR cash. The officer will print a receipt and a visa sticker. Keep the receipt — you'll need it for the extension if you go that route.
3
Proceed to immigration
Join the 'Foreign Passport' queue. Present your passport (with the new sticker), boarding pass, and return ticket if asked. They'll stamp you in for 30 days.
4
Collect luggage and exit
Grab your bags and head through customs. You're officially in Indonesia.

Yes, you can extend it once for another 30 days. The extension costs about 500,000 IDR and takes 3–5 working days. You need to visit an immigration office (Kantor Imigrasi) in person. Start the process at least a week before your initial 30 days expire.

No, a digital copy on your phone is fine. Immigration rarely asks, but having it ready avoids hassle.
Overstaying costs 1,000,000 IDR per day (about €60). Pay at immigration before you leave. Overstays over 60 days can lead to deportation and a ban.
No, the VoA is single-entry. If you leave Indonesia and come back, you need a new VoA each time.
