Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply for a Malaysia eVisa at the official Window Malaysia portal. Processing takes 1–3 working days. Print the eVisa approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration will check it on arrival.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your stay
Your passport must have at least 6 months of validity remaining from your date of entry into Malaysia. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Malaysia
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return flight. Have a printed or digital copy of your ticket ready — travellers without one risk being refused entry.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host address
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host. Immigration may ask where you are staying — having the address and booking reference ready avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient cash or bank statement
Have at least 500 USD (or equivalent in MYR) in cash or a recent bank statement showing available funds. Immigration can ask to see proof you can support yourself during your stay.Recommended
eVisa is not issued on arrival
You must get the eVisa approved before you fly. Without it, you'll be denied boarding. No visa-on-arrival option for Nepali passport holders.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa approval, passport scan, return ticket, and hotel booking as PDFs on your phone. Also email them to yourself as backup.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to windowmalaysia.my. Fill in your details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee — about MYR 200–250 (roughly NPR 7,000–9,000). Processing takes 2–5 working days.
2
Receive eVisa approval
You'll get an email with your eVisa approval letter. Print it out or save a clear copy on your phone. Double-check your name and passport number match exactly.
3
Arrive at Malaysian immigration
At Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) or any other entry point, join the foreign passport queue. Hand over your passport and eVisa approval. The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation details. Answer clearly. They'll stamp you in — usually for up to 30 days.
