Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your departure date from Singapore. Immigration officers at Changi Airport check this strictly — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Singapore
You need a confirmed onward or return ticket to a third country. Budget airlines like Scoot and AirAsia check this at check-in — if you don't have one, they won't let you board.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Singapore. Immigration officers rarely ask for it, but if they do, you need a printed or digital copy ready.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient cash or bank statement
Carry at least SGD 1,000 (or equivalent in foreign currency) in cash, or have a recent bank statement showing available funds. Immigration may ask to see this if you look like you might overstay or work illegally.Recommended
Overstaying is a criminal offence
Singapore takes overstaying very seriously. Even one day over can result in a fine, a ban, or worse. Set a reminder to leave before your 30 days are up.
No visa needed, but be prepared
You don't need a visa, but immigration can still deny entry if you can't show a return ticket, accommodation, or sufficient funds. Have everything ready.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents before you fly
Check your passport has 6+ months validity and at least 1 blank page. Book your return/onward ticket and first night's accommodation. Save screenshots of both on your phone. Arrange travel insurance and a local SIM/eSIM.
2
Arrive at Changi Airport or other entry point
At Changi Airport (the main entry), follow signs to 'Arrivals' and then 'Foreign Passports'. Join the queue for non-Singaporean passports. Have your passport and boarding pass ready.
3
Present your passport to the immigration officer
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask your purpose of visit, how long you're staying, and where you're staying. Answer clearly. They may also ask to see your return ticket or accommodation booking — have them ready.
4
Receive your entry stamp and proceed
The officer will stamp your passport with a 30-day visit pass. Check the stamp says the correct date. You're now free to enter Singapore. Collect your luggage and head to the arrival hall.

Frequently asked questions

No, the visa-free entry for Nepali passport holders is not extendable. You must leave before the 30 days are up. Overstaying can result in fines, a ban, or even jail time. If you need to stay longer, you'll need to apply for a different visa type before your current visit pass expires.
You will be denied entry. Singapore strictly enforces the 6-month validity rule. Renew your passport before you travel. If you're transiting through Singapore without clearing immigration, the rule may be relaxed, but for entry it's mandatory.
No, Singapore no longer requires a paper arrival card or an online SG Arrival Card for Nepali passport holders under the visa-free arrangement. Just show your passport at immigration.
No. The 30-day visa-free entry is strictly for tourism, social visits, or short business trips (meetings, conferences). You cannot take up employment, study, or engage in any paid activity. For work or study, you must apply for the appropriate pass before arriving.
Overstaying is a serious offence. For overstays of up to 90 days, you may be fined up to SGD 400 per day and could be banned from re-entering Singapore. For longer overstays, you risk imprisonment and caning. Always leave before your visit pass expires.
Yes, you can enter Singapore by road from Malaysia (e.g., via the Causeway or Second Link). The same visa-free rules apply — 30 days, same document requirements. Immigration checks are similar to the airport.
It's not required for entry, but it's strongly recommended. Medical costs in Singapore are among the highest in Asia. A simple hospital visit can cost hundreds of SGD, and a serious issue can run into thousands. Insurance also covers trip cancellation, lost luggage, and delays.
