Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport must be valid for at least the full duration of your 60-day stay. Airlines at Lima may ask for 6 months validity — carry a printout of the Thai visa exemption rule showing no 6-month requirement.Required
Return or onward ticket
Strictly checked
Immigration at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang will ask for a flight out of Thailand within 60 days. Budget airlines check this before boarding in Lima — have a printed or digital copy ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Officers occasionally ask for a hotel confirmation or a host's address and phone number. A first-night booking is usually enough.Recommended
Proof of funds
20,000 THB per person
Immigration can ask you to show cash or a bank statement with at least 20,000 THB (about $550 USD) per person or 40,000 THB per family. ATMs are everywhere, but carry some cash to avoid hassle.Recommended
Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)Thailand Digital Arrival Card — a free 2-minute online pre-registration at tdac.immigration.go.th. Not mandatory, but gets you through the immigration queue faster.
Optional pre-registration
Register online at tdac.immigration.go.th before your flight. It's free, takes 2 minutes, and gives you a QR code that speeds you through the immigration queue at Suvarnabhumi.Register for TDACOptional
Overstay is expensive and risky
The fine is 500 THB per day, but overstaying more than 90 days can get you banned from Thailand for 1 year or more. Set a reminder on your phone to leave before your 60 days are up.
TDAC saves time at immigration
The Thailand Digital Arrival Card is free and optional, but completing it online before you fly means you can use the faster lane at major airports. Do it 72 hours before arrival at tdac.immigration.go.th.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Before you leave home, check your passport validity (6+ months), print or save your return ticket and first night hotel booking. Complete the TDAC online if you want to skip the queue.
2
Arrive at a Thai airport
At Suvarnabhumi (BKK), Don Mueang (DMK), Phuket (HKT), or Chiang Mai (CNX), follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Passport Control'. Have your passport and boarding pass ready.
3
Present your passport and get stamped
Hand your passport to the officer. They may ask how long you're staying and where. Answer briefly. You'll receive a 60-day entry stamp. Keep the departure card (if given) with your passport.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs (usually green channel for nothing to declare). You're free to enter Thailand.
