Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay in Turkey
Your passport needs to be valid for the full duration of your stay. Turkey does not enforce a 6-month validity rule for Peruvian passport holders — just make sure it doesn't expire before you leave.Required
Return or onward ticket
Immigration may ask for proof of departure
Turkish immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at passport control. Have a printed or digital copy of your outbound flight booking ready — they check this especially if you arrive without a hotel reservation.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Immigration may ask where you're staying, especially if you're arriving without a return ticket. A hotel confirmation or a letter from your host with their address and phone number works fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Officers rarely ask, but carry a bank statement or credit card showing you have enough for your stay. Around $50–$100 USD per day is a safe benchmark if questioned.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the day you arrive in Turkey, not the day you leave. If your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding by the airline or entry by immigration.
Overstaying = fines + possible ban
The 90-day visa-free stay is not extendable. Overstaying even a day can result in fines and a re-entry ban. Set a calendar reminder to leave before day 90.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Before you leave home, check your passport is valid for 6+ months from your arrival date. Book a return or onward ticket. Save a screenshot of your hotel booking and travel insurance. Get an eSIM or local SIM so you have data on arrival.
2
Arrive at Istanbul Airport or any Turkish entry point
At passport control, join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Have your passport and boarding pass ready. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel address — answer calmly. They'll stamp your passport with a 90-day entry. The whole process usually takes 2–5 minutes.
3
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, head to baggage claim. If you have nothing to declare, use the green 'Nothing to Declare' channel. You're free to enter Turkey.

Frequently asked questions

No, the 90-day stay is not extendable. You must leave Turkey before day 90. Overstaying can result in fines and a ban from re-entering. If you need to stay longer, you'd need to apply for a residence permit from within Turkey before your 90 days expire.
Overstaying in Turkey is taken seriously. You'll be fined per day overstayed (around 50–100 TRY per day, but amounts change). You may also be banned from re-entering for a period. Always leave on time.
If you're staying airside and not passing through passport control, you generally don't need a visa for transit. But if you want to leave the airport or have a layover longer than 24 hours, you'll need to enter Turkey visa-free (which you already can as a Peruvian). No additional visa is required.
No. Visa-free entry is for tourism and short business visits only. If you plan to work, study, or stay longer than 90 days, you must apply for the appropriate visa or residence permit before traveling.
At passport control, you'll need your passport (valid 6+ months), your boarding pass, and possibly your return ticket and hotel booking. Keep a printed or digital copy of your travel insurance handy. No arrival declaration or e-Visa is needed.
Yes, immigration officers have discretion. Common reasons for denial include: insufficient funds, no return ticket, suspicious travel history, or inability to explain your trip. Always carry proof of accommodation and onward travel, and be ready to state your purpose clearly.
Peruvians can enter Northern Cyprus visa-free for up to 90 days. If you're traveling from Turkey, you'll cross the border at a checkpoint. Your Turkish visa-free stay does not count toward Northern Cyprus's 90-day limit — they are separate territories.
