Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your stay
Your passport needs at least 6 months of validity from your date of entry into the Philippines. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from the Philippines
Immigration officers at Manila, Cebu, and Clark airports routinely ask for a confirmed onward ticket within 30 days. Without one, you may be refused entry and sent back on the next flight.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host ready. Immigration sometimes asks where you are staying — a printed booking or a screenshot on your phone works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Carry at least PHP 10,000 (around $180 USD) in cash or have a bank statement showing sufficient balance. Immigration may ask how you plan to fund your trip.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Philippine immigration will deny entry if your passport has less than 6 months validity from your date of arrival. Airlines also check this at check-in. Renew your passport well before your trip.
No visa extension available at entry
You cannot extend the 30-day visa-free period at the airport or online before you arrive. Extensions are only possible in person at a Bureau of Immigration office in the Philippines. Plan accordingly.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Before leaving for the airport, gather your passport (valid 6+ months), return ticket, and first-night hotel booking. Save digital copies on your phone.
2
Check in and board
At check-in, the airline will verify your passport validity and onward ticket. They may also ask for proof of accommodation. Board your flight as normal.
3
Arrive at a Philippine airport
You'll land at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Manila), Mactan-Cebu International Airport, or another entry point. Follow signs to 'Foreign Passports' or 'Arrivals'.
4
Present your passport to immigration
Hand over your passport and the completed arrival card (usually given on the plane). The officer will check your passport validity, stamp it, and grant you 30 days visa-free. No fee.
5
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, pick up your bags from the carousel, pass through customs (declare any restricted items), and you're free to enter the Philippines.
