Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay in Singapore
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Singapore. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Singapore
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready — budget airlines like Scoot and AirAsia check this before issuing a boarding pass.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Singapore. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it ready avoids delays at the counter.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during the stay
Have access to at least 1,000 SGD in cash, a credit card, or a bank statement. Immigration may ask how you plan to fund your trip — a quick bank app screen works fine.Recommended
Overstaying is a criminal offence
Do not overstay your 30-day limit. Penalties include fines up to SGD 2,000, imprisonment, and a re-entry ban. Set a reminder to leave before your 30 days are up.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date. This is non-negotiable. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before you travel.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Changi Airport
After landing at Singapore Changi Airport, follow signs to 'Arrivals' and then 'Foreign Passports'. Join the queue for non-Singaporean passports. Have your passport, boarding pass, and return ticket ready.
2
Present documents at immigration counter
Hand over your passport and any requested documents. The officer may ask about your purpose of visit, length of stay, and where you're staying. Answer clearly and briefly. They'll stamp your passport and you're in.
3
Collect baggage and proceed
After clearing immigration, collect your checked luggage from the carousel, then walk through the 'Nothing to Declare' green channel if you have no dutiable goods. If you have items to declare, use the red channel.
