Slovak passport holders can get a visa on arrival in Sri Lanka in 2026. You'll receive a 30-day tourist visa at Colombo's airport without applying in advance. Have your documents ready, and expect to clear immigration in about 20–30 minutes.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date
Your passport must have at least 6 months of validity remaining from your departure date from Sri Lanka. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Visa on arrival
Available at Colombo (CMB) and other entry points
You can get a visa on arrival at Colombo Bandaranaike Airport for $50 USD (cash only). Have your passport, a printed return ticket, and the exact fee ready. The queue can take 30–60 minutes — bring a pen to fill the form.Check visa detailsRequired
Return or onward ticket
Required for all visitors
Immigration officers at Colombo ask for proof of onward travel from every foreigner. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready. Budget airlines sometimes check this at check-in too.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Immigration may ask where you are staying. Have a printed hotel confirmation or a letter from your host with their address and phone number. Hostels and guesthouses are fine — just show the booking.Recommended
Proof of funds
At least $50 per day of stay
Officers occasionally ask for proof you can support yourself. Carry cash (USD or EUR) or a credit card statement showing available funds. $50 per day is the informal benchmark — a few hundred dollars in cash usually satisfies them.Recommended
Cash is king at the visa counter
The visa on arrival fee is $35 USD. Bring exact change in USD, EUR, or GBP. Cards are accepted but the machine sometimes has issues — cash avoids the headache.
Passport validity counts from entry, not departure
If your passport expires in 5 months from the day you land, you'll be denied entry. Check your passport now — if it's close, renew it before you travel.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB)
After landing, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' counters. They're on the left before immigration. Queue up — it's usually 10–15 minutes. Have your passport, return ticket, and hotel booking ready.
2
Fill out the arrival card
You'll get a small card on the plane or at the counter. Fill in your details: name, passport number, flight, hotel address. Keep it with your passport.
3
Pay the visa fee
At the counter, pay $35 USD (or equivalent in EUR/GBP) in cash. Credit cards are accepted but cash is faster. You'll get a receipt and a visa sticker in your passport.
4
Proceed to immigration
Hand over your passport with the visa sticker, arrival card, and return ticket if asked. The officer will stamp you in. Collect your bags and exit.
