Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for an Armenian eVisa at evisa.mfa.am. Processing takes 3 to 5 working days. Print the approval email and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Armenia. No minimum validity beyond departure is required by Armenian law, but airlines may enforce 6 months — check with your carrier.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Border officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket showing you will leave Armenia before your visa expires. Have a printed or digital copy ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation
Immigration may ask for a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host. Have a printed booking confirmation or a scanned invitation letter handy.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient cash or card
Officers can request evidence of enough money for your stay — roughly $50 per day. Carry a bank statement, credit card, or cash in USD or EUR.Recommended
eVisa is single-entry only
The eVisa allows one entry. If you leave Armenia (even for a day trip to Georgia), you'll need a new eVisa to re-enter.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive in Armenia, not your departure date. Check your passport now.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to evisa.mfa.am, fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo, and pay the fee (around $40 USD). Processing usually takes 3-5 business days. You'll receive the eVisa by email as a PDF.
2
Pack your documents
Print or save on your phone: the eVisa PDF, your passport (valid 6+ months), return flight booking, and first night hotel confirmation. Also grab travel insurance if you have it.
3
Arrive at Yerevan's Zvartnots Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. Join the queue for foreign passports. Hand over your passport and eVisa (printed or on phone). The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel address. Answer clearly. They'll stamp you in — usually takes 2-5 minutes.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, head to baggage claim, then customs. Green channel for nothing to declare. You're in Armenia.
