What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the border
At Tbilisi International Airport (TBS), Kutaisi, or Batumi airport, or at any land border crossing (e.g., from Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, or Russia). Join the 'Foreign Passports' queue.
2
Present your passport
Hand over your Taiwan passport. The officer will check the validity date and may ask your purpose of visit (tourism is fine). Answer clearly and briefly.
3
Show onward ticket if asked
If requested, show your return or onward booking on your phone or as a printout. Keep it easily accessible — don't dig through your bag.
4
Receive entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the entry date. No visa sticker is needed. The stamp allows you to stay up to 365 days. Count your days from this stamp.
5
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim (if arriving by air), then customs. There are no arrival forms to fill out. You're free to enter Georgia.

Frequently asked questions

No. Visa-free entry is for tourism, business meetings, and short visits only. If you plan to work (including remote work for a foreign company while staying long-term), you need a different visa or residence permit. For short business trips (meetings, conferences), it's fine.
Up to 365 days per calendar year. That means you can stay for almost a full year, but you must leave before the 365th day. Overstaying can result in fines or a ban. The count resets each calendar year, but if you enter in December, the days count toward the next year's allowance.
No, the visa-free period cannot be extended. If you want to stay longer, you must apply for a temporary residence permit (e.g., for study, work, or family reunification) at the Public Service Hall in Tbilisi or Batumi before your 365 days expire.
You will be denied entry. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive. If it's close to expiry, renew it before traveling. There are no exceptions at the border.
Not officially for visa-free entry, but immigration officers may ask how you'll support yourself. Having a credit card or a few hundred dollars in cash (or local currency) is sensible. If asked, simply say you have enough for your stay.
Yes. You can come and go as many times as you like, as long as your total stay in any 365-day period does not exceed 365 days. Each entry resets the count, but the cumulative total matters.
Overstaying by even one day can result in a fine (around 180 GEL for the first 10 days, then more) and a possible entry ban. If you realize you've overstayed, go to the Public Service Hall immediately to regularize your status. Don't just leave — the fine at the border is higher.
