Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa on arrival
Visa on arrival
Get a visa on arrival at Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, or Sihanoukville airports. Pay $30 USD in cash (exact change preferred) — have a passport photo ready. The eVisa at evisa.gov.kh costs the same $30 and saves you waiting in the visa-on-arrival line.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date
Your passport needs at least 6 months of validity from your date of entry into Cambodia. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for visa on arrival
Immigration officers ask for a flight out of Cambodia within 30 days. A printed itinerary or e-ticket works — they rarely check the actual booking status, but you need something showing a departure date.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host address
Have your first night's hotel confirmation ready. Immigration rarely asks for it, but the visa-on-arrival counter may request an address in Cambodia — write down your hotel name and address.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or card showing you can support yourself
Officials rarely check funds, but carrying at least $500 USD in cash or having a card with available credit covers you. Cambodia is a cash-heavy economy — bring USD for the visa fee and daily expenses.Recommended
Cash only — no cards
The visa-on-arrival counter only accepts US dollars in cash. No credit cards, no Cambodian Riel. Have the exact amount ready — $30 for tourist, $35 for business. Torn or marked bills may be refused.
Photo tip
Bring your own passport photo. The airport photo booth works but adds time to the queue. A single 4x6 cm photo with a white background is all you need.

What happens at the border

1
Land and follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival'
At Phnom Penh or Siem Reap airport, after you get off the plane, follow the signs to 'Visa on Arrival' before the immigration counters. There's a dedicated desk with forms.
2
Submit your documents and pay
Hand over your passport, one passport photo, the completed application form, and $30 (tourist) or $35 (business) in US dollars. The officer will process your visa — usually takes 5–15 minutes.
3
Collect your passport with visa sticker
Once processed, you'll get your passport back with a visa sticker inside. Check that the dates are correct (30 days from entry). Then proceed to the immigration line for entry stamping.
4
Go through immigration and collect bags
Present your passport with the new visa at the immigration counter. You'll be stamped in. Then head to baggage claim. Total time from landing to exit: about 30–45 minutes.
