Ugandan passport holders need a visa to enter Thailand in 2026. You must apply online before you travel — there is no visa on arrival for Ugandan citizens. Plan ahead, as processing can take a few business days.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
You need a visa to enter Thailand. Apply online at the official Thailand eVisa portal at least 2 weeks before your trip. Upload your passport scan, photo, flight itinerary, and hotel booking. Processing takes 5-10 business days.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Thailand. Airlines at Entebbe check this before boarding. No blank page requirement for Thailand.Required
Return or onward ticket
Strictly enforced
Immigration officers at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports check for a confirmed onward ticket within your visa validity. Budget airlines flying into Thailand are especially strict about this. Have a printed or digital copy ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Immigration may ask for your hotel booking or a letter from your host in Thailand. Have a printed copy or a screenshot on your phone. This is not always checked, but better to have it.Recommended
Proof of funds
20,000 THB per person
You may be asked to show cash or a bank statement with at least 20,000 THB (about $550 USD) per person or 40,000 THB per family. ATMs are widely available at the airport if you need to withdraw upon arrival.Recommended
Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)TDAC
Optional pre-registration
Register online at tdac.immigration.go.th before your flight. It takes 2 minutes and gives you a QR code that speeds up the immigration queue. Not mandatory, but saves time at Suvarnabhumi.Register on TDACOptional
No visa on arrival for Ugandans
You cannot get a visa at the airport. Apply online at thaievisa.go.th at least two weeks before departure. Without an approved e-Visa, you will be denied boarding.
TDAC saves time
Complete the free TDAC form at tdac.immigration.go.th up to 72 hours before arrival. It gives you access to a faster immigration lane — worth it if you hate queues.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the e-Visa online
Go to thaievisa.go.th, create an account, fill in your details, upload your passport scan and photo, and pay the fee. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days. You'll receive an approval email.
2
Prepare your documents for travel
Print or save on your phone: the visa approval, your passport (valid 6+ months), return ticket, and first night hotel booking. Also complete the TDAC form online (tdac.immigration.go.th) to speed up arrival.
3
Arrive at a Thai airport
At immigration, present your passport with the visa sticker (or printout), your boarding pass, and your return ticket. The officer will stamp you in. Keep the arrival card if given one.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After the stamp, head to baggage claim, then customs. If you completed TDAC, you'll use the faster lane. Otherwise, join the regular queue.
