Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply online at evisa.gov.ge at least 5 working days before departure. The eVisa costs 20 USD for single entry and is valid for 30 days. Upload a passport photo and a scanned copy of your passport data page.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the full duration of your stay in Georgia. Georgia does not enforce a 6-month validity rule, but your airline might — check with them before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Tbilisi and Kutaisi airports regularly ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your booking ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or an invitation letter from your host. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or credit card showing at least 200 GEL (approx. 75 USD) per day of stay. Officers almost never check this for short visits, but it's safer to have it.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Georgia, not from your departure date. If it expires sooner, renew it before applying for the eVisa.
Keep a digital copy of your eVisa
Save the eVisa PDF on your phone and email it to yourself. If you lose the paper copy, you can still show the QR code from your phone at immigration.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to www.evisa.gov.ge, fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around 20–50 USD depending on processing speed). You'll receive a confirmation email.
2
Wait for approval
Standard processing takes about 5 business days. You can pay extra for faster processing (24–48 hours). Check your email (and spam folder) for the eVisa PDF.
3
Print or save the eVisa
Print a paper copy and also save the PDF on your phone. Border officers at Tbilisi International Airport will scan the QR code on arrival.
4
Arrive in Georgia
At passport control, hand over your passport and the printed eVisa. They may ask for your return ticket and accommodation. Answer clearly. The whole process takes 2–5 minutes.
5
Collect your luggage and exit
After clearing immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs (green channel for most tourists). You're free to enter Georgia.
