RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Vietnamese passport holders need a visa to enter Turkey. Apply online at the official Turkish eVisa portal — processing takes minutes and costs around $60 USD. Print the eVisa approval and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover your stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 60 days beyond your intended stay in Turkey. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward flight ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your booking ready — they check this at passport control.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel reservation confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Turkey. Officers may ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have bank statements or a credit card ready to show you have at least $50 USD per day of your stay. Officers rarely ask, but it helps if you look underprepared.Recommended
No visa on arrival for Vietnamese citizens
Unlike some other nationalities, Vietnamese passport holders cannot get a visa at the airport. You must have an approved e-Visa before you board your flight to Turkey.
e-Visa is quick but don’t wait until the last minute
The system usually approves within minutes, but technical glitches happen. Apply at least 2 days before departure to be safe.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for e-Visa online
Go to www.evisa.gov.tr, fill in your passport details, pay the fee (around $60 USD), and download the approved visa. Processing usually takes minutes, but apply at least 48 hours before your flight.
2
Prepare your documents
Print or save on your phone: e-Visa approval, passport (6+ months validity), return ticket, and first night hotel booking. Keep them together in a folder or phone album.
3
Arrive at Turkish immigration
At Istanbul Airport or any other entry point, join the foreign passport queue. Hand over your passport and e-Visa. The officer may ask for your return ticket or hotel address — answer clearly. You’ll get a stamp allowing up to 90 days stay.
