What happens at the border

1
Land at Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB)
After deplaning, follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Visa on Arrival'. The queue is usually well-marked. Have your passport, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation ready.
2
Fill out the arrival card
You'll get a small card on the plane or at the immigration hall. Fill in your personal details, flight number, and hotel address. Keep it with your passport.
3
Present documents at the visa on arrival counter
Hand over your passport, arrival card, and supporting documents. The officer will process your visa — usually takes 5-10 minutes. You'll get a sticker in your passport.
4
Proceed to passport control
After the visa is issued, go to the passport control booth. The officer will stamp you in. That's it — you're officially in Sri Lanka.
