Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before departure
You need an Indonesian eVisa before you fly. Apply at the official Molina portal — it takes about 15 minutes and costs around $50 USD depending on your nationality. Processing usually takes 1–3 working days, so apply at least a week before your trip.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond arrival
Indonesian immigration strictly enforces the 6-month passport validity rule. If your passport expires within 6 months of your arrival date, you will be denied boarding and entry. Airlines check this at check-in — no exceptions.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Jakarta, Bali, and other airports routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready. If you're arriving without one, you may be refused entry or asked to buy a ticket on the spot.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Immigration may ask where you're staying. Have a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host with their address and contact details. A simple booking.com confirmation on your phone works fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can cover your stay
Officers occasionally ask for proof of sufficient funds. Carry at least $1,000 USD in cash or have a bank statement showing you can support yourself. Credit cards are accepted but cash is preferred for this check.Recommended
eVisa processing time
Apply at least 5 business days before your flight. Processing can take 1-3 days, but delays happen. Don't wait until the last minute.
Keep digital copies
Save your eVisa PDF, flight booking, and hotel confirmation on your phone. Immigration may ask to see them at the counter.

What happens at the border

2
Receive your eVisa by email
