Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Ghanaian passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your departure date from Singapore. Singapore immigration strictly enforces this — they will deny boarding if your passport expires sooner.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Singapore
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready — airlines also check this before issuing a boarding pass.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Singapore. Immigration may ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient cash or bank statement
Have at least SGD 1,000 (or equivalent) in cash, traveler's cheques, or a recent bank statement. Immigration officers can request proof of financial means for your stay.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you arrive in Singapore. Airlines at Kotoka will check this before you board. If your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding — no exceptions.
No visa, but still need a return ticket
Even though you don't need a visa, immigration officers will ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready. A screenshot on your phone is fine.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare documents before you fly
Print or save on your phone: passport (valid 6+ months), return ticket, first night hotel booking, and proof of funds. Airlines at Kotoka International Airport (ACC) will check these before issuing your boarding pass.
2
Arrive at Changi Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Arrivals' and then 'Foreign Passports'. Join the queue for non-Singaporean passports. Have your passport and boarding pass ready.
3
Present documents to immigration officer
Hand over your passport and boarding pass. The officer may ask your purpose of visit, where you're staying, and when you're leaving. Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport with a 30-day visit pass.
4
Collect baggage and exit
After clearing immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel. You're now free to enter Singapore.

Frequently asked questions

No. The visa-free entry is not extendable. If you need to stay longer, you must leave Singapore before day 30 and re-enter (though immigration may question frequent back-to-back visits). For longer stays, apply for a visa or a Long-Term Visit Pass before you travel.
No, Ghanaian passport holders are not required to submit an electronic arrival declaration. You simply present your passport at immigration.
If you're staying airside and your connecting flight is within 24 hours, you generally don't need a visa. But check with your airline — some require a transit visa for certain nationalities. If you plan to leave the transit area, you'll need to meet the same entry requirements as above.
No. The 30-day visa-free entry is strictly for tourism, business meetings, or short family visits. You cannot take up employment, study, or engage in any paid activity. For work or study, you must apply for the appropriate pass before travelling.
Overstaying is a serious offence. You may be fined, detained, and banned from re-entering Singapore. If you realise you'll overstay, contact the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) immediately to discuss options. Do not just stay.
No official minimum is published, but immigration officers expect you to have enough for your stay. A good rule of thumb is SGD 100–200 per day. A credit card with a reasonable limit usually suffices.
Singapore has strict entry rules. If you have a criminal record, especially for drug offences, you may be denied entry. It's best to check with the Singapore High Commission in Accra before booking travel.
