Ghanaian passport holders need an eVisa to enter Vietnam in 2026. The eVisa is a single-entry permit valid for up to 30 days, and you must apply online before you travel. Plan ahead — processing typically takes 3–5 working days.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply at the official Vietnam eVisa portal at evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn. The fee is $25 USD for single entry or $50 USD for multiple entry, valid for up to 90 days. Processing takes 3 working days — do not book flights until you receive approval.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your Ghanaian passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Vietnam. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Vietnam
Immigration officers at Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat routinely ask for a flight out of Vietnam. Have a printed or digital copy of your onward ticket ready — a bus or train ticket to Cambodia or Laos also works.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or an invitation letter from your host. Immigration may ask for your first night's address on arrival — having it ready avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash, card, or bank statement
Officers rarely ask, but have at least $500 USD equivalent in cash or a credit card statement showing available funds. ATMs are widely available in cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Vietnam, not from your departure date. If it's close to expiry, renew it before applying for the eVisa.
eVisa is single-entry only
The eVisa allows one entry and a maximum stay of 30 days. If you leave Vietnam (even to Cambodia or Laos), you'll need a new eVisa to re-enter.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Vietnamese eVisa portal (evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn). Fill in your personal details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport data page, and pay the fee (around $25 USD). Processing takes 3–5 working days. You'll receive an approval letter by email.
2
Print your eVisa letter
Once approved, print the eVisa letter on A4 paper. Keep it with your passport — you'll hand it to immigration on arrival.
3
Prepare your documents for arrival
Before you queue at immigration, have your passport, printed eVisa, return ticket (screenshot or print), and first-night hotel booking ready. At major airports like Noi Bai (Hanoi) or Tan Son Nhat (Ho Chi Minh City), follow the 'Foreign Passport' signs. The officer will check your documents, take a fingerprint, and stamp you in.
