What happens at the border

1
Contact the nearest Sri Lankan embassy or consulate
Find the Sri Lankan diplomatic mission that covers Ghana — often this is in Abuja, Nigeria, or Accra if there's a consulate. Call or email to confirm their visa application process, required documents, and fees, as procedures can change.
2
Prepare your application package
Gather all required documents: passport, photos, completed form, flight itinerary, hotel booking, bank statements, and any other requested paperwork. Make photocopies of everything for your records.
3
Submit your application in person or by mail
Depending on the embassy's rules, you may need to appear in person for biometrics or an interview. If mail-in is allowed, use a tracked courier service and include a prepaid return envelope.
4
Wait for processing
Processing can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. Check with the embassy for current timelines. Avoid booking non-refundable flights until your visa is approved.
5
Collect your passport with the visa
Once approved, your passport will be stamped with the visa. Verify the dates and personal details before leaving the embassy or receiving it by mail. Report any errors immediately.
6
Arrive in Sri Lanka
At the airport (usually Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo), go to the immigration counter for foreign visitors. Present your passport with the visa, and be ready to answer questions about your stay. Have your return ticket and accommodation details handy.
