Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your departure date from Thailand
Your passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from the day you leave Thailand. Airlines at Casablanca and Marrakech check this before you board — if your passport expires sooner, they will deny boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for visa-free entry
Immigration officers at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports routinely ask for proof of a flight out of Thailand within 60 days. Budget airlines like AirAsia and Nok Air check this before issuing a boarding pass — have a printed or digital copy ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to have on hand
Officers occasionally ask for a hotel booking or a letter of invitation from a host. A printed confirmation or a digital copy on your phone works — just have something showing where you're staying for the first few nights.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to have on hand
Immigration can ask you to show at least 20,000 THB per person or 40,000 THB per family in cash, bank statement, or traveler's cheques. Carry a recent bank statement or withdraw cash at the airport ATM — they rarely check, but it's a quick denial if they do.Recommended
Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)TDAC
Optional online pre-registration
TDAC is a free 2-minute form at tdac.immigration.go.th where you enter your flight and passport details. Not mandatory, but completing it before you fly gives you a QR code that lets you use the faster immigration lane at Suvarnabhumi.Open TDAC formOptional
Overstay is expensive and risky
Overstaying even one day costs 500 THB. If you overstay more than 90 days, you face a 1-year ban from Thailand. Set a reminder on your phone to leave before day 60.
TDAC saves time at immigration
The Thailand Digital Arrival Card is free and optional. Completing it online before you fly can cut your queue time significantly. Do it at https://tdac.immigration.go.th.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents before flying
Check your passport validity (6+ months from entry date), book a return/onward ticket, and arrange first-night accommodation. Complete the TDAC online if you want to save time at immigration.
2
Arrive at a Thai international airport
You'll land at Suvarnabhumi (BKK), Don Mueang (DMK), Phuket (HKT), Chiang Mai (CNX), or other international airports. Follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Passport Control'.
3
Queue at immigration and present your documents
Hand over your passport and boarding pass. The officer may ask for your return ticket or accommodation proof. Answer clearly: 'Tourism' or 'Business meeting' are fine. They'll stamp your passport with a 60-day visa-free entry.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After the stamp, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. If you completed TDAC, you may have a faster lane. Otherwise, just follow the crowd.

Frequently asked questions

No, the visa-free entry is not extendable. You must leave Thailand within 60 days. If you want to stay longer, apply for a tourist visa at a Thai embassy before travel, or leave and re-enter (visa run) to get a new 60-day stamp.
Overstay costs 500 THB per day (about $14 USD), capped at 20,000 THB. You pay at immigration when you leave. Overstaying more than 90 days can get you banned from re-entering Thailand for 1 year. Avoid it.
If you're transiting and staying airside (not passing immigration), you don't need a visa. If you plan to leave the airport or stay overnight, you'll need the visa-free entry (60 days) or a visa. Check with your airline for transit rules.
Yes, you can enter multiple times, but immigration may question frequent visits. If you spend more than 180 days per year in Thailand, they might suspect you're working illegally. Keep visits reasonable and have proof of tourism or business.
You'll be denied boarding by the airline or entry by Thai immigration. Renew your passport before travel. No exceptions.
No, it's optional. But completing it online before you fly can save 15-30 minutes at immigration. It's free and takes 5 minutes. If you skip it, you'll fill out a paper arrival card at the airport.
Not usually, but immigration can ask. Have at least 20,000 THB (about $550 USD) in cash or a credit card with available limit. It's rare for Moroccan passport holders, but better safe than sorry.
