Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Georgia does not require 6 months of passport validity beyond your stay — just make sure your passport is valid for the entire time you plan to be in the country. Airlines may still ask for at least 3 months validity, so check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Recommended for visa-free entry
Immigration officers at Tbilisi and Kutaisi airports rarely ask for a return ticket, but budget airlines like Wizz Air and Pegasus may check at check-in. Have a printed or digital onward booking ready just in case.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Recommended for visa-free entry
You are not required to show hotel bookings or an invitation letter at the border. If asked, a simple booking confirmation or a friend's address in Georgia is enough.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended for visa-free entry
Georgia does not enforce a minimum cash requirement at immigration. Carry a credit card or around $500–$1,000 in cash or bank statements if you want to be safe, but officers almost never ask.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Georgia. If it expires sooner, you will be turned away at the border. Check your passport's expiry date before booking anything.
Overstaying is costly
If you stay longer than 360 days, you risk a fine of 180 GEL (about $65) for the first 90 days of overstay, plus additional penalties. Repeated overstays can lead to a ban from re-entering Georgia.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Georgian border
You'll enter through Tbilisi International Airport (TBS), Kutaisi International Airport (KUT), Batumi Airport (BUS), or one of the land border crossings from Turkey (e.g., Sarpi, Türkgözü).
2
Queue at passport control
Join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Have your passport and any supporting documents (return ticket, accommodation) ready. The officer will check your passport, stamp it, and wave you through. No forms to fill.
3
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim (if you checked bags), then walk through customs. Green channel if you have nothing to declare. You're in.
