Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before departure
Apply for a Cambodia eVisa at evisa.gov.kh. The fee is $30 USD, and processing takes 3 working days. Print the approval letter and bring it with you — immigration will stamp your passport on arrival.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date in Cambodia. Airlines check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Cambodia
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at the border. Have a printed or digital copy of your outbound flight booking ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host address
Have your hotel reservation or host's address ready. Immigration may ask where you are staying, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked hotel.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or bank statement
Carry at least $300 USD in cash or have a bank statement showing sufficient funds. Immigration rarely checks this, but it helps if asked.Recommended
Bring exact cash in good condition
The visa counter will reject torn, taped, or heavily wrinkled US bills. Also avoid $50 and $100 notes — they're often refused. Bring $30 in small bills ($10s and $20s) to be safe.
Visa on arrival vs e-visa: which is faster?
At busy times (especially Siem Reap airport), the visa on arrival queue can be 20–30 minutes. The e-visa lets you skip that line and go straight to passport control. If you're arriving during peak season or late at night, the e-visa saves time.

What happens at the border

1
Fill out the arrival card and visa application form
On the plane or at the airport, you'll get two forms: a Cambodian arrival card and a visa application form. Fill both out in capital letters. You'll need your passport number, flight number, and hotel address.
2
Go to the 'Visa on Arrival' counter
After deplaning, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' (not 'Immigration' or 'E-Gate'). At Phnom Penh and Siem Reap airports, the counter is before passport control. Hand over your passport, completed forms, photo, and $30 cash.
3
Wait for processing
They'll take your passport and photo, and you'll wait 5–15 minutes. They'll call your name or hand back your passport with the visa sticker inside. Check the sticker — make sure the dates and your name are correct.
4
Proceed to passport control
With the visa sticker in your passport, join the main immigration queue. Hand over your passport and arrival card. They'll stamp you in. That's it — you're in.

Frequently asked questions

Yes — all international airports (Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Sihanoukville) and all major land border crossings from Thailand, Vietnam, and Laos offer visa on arrival for Taiwan passport holders. The process and fee are the same everywhere.
The tourist visa on arrival is valid for 30 days from the date of entry. It's a single-entry visa. If you leave Cambodia and come back, you'll need a new visa.
No — the visa on arrival cannot be extended. If you want to stay longer than 30 days, you'll need to leave and re-enter, or apply for a different visa type (like a business visa) before you travel.
Most airports have photo booths near the visa counter. They cost about $5 and take a few minutes. But it's easier and cheaper to bring your own.
No — only US dollars are accepted at the visa counter. They won't take Riel, credit cards, or any other currency. Bring small US bills ($1, $5, $10, $20) to avoid issues with change.
Yes — you need proof of onward travel out of Cambodia. A bus ticket to Vietnam or a flight to Thailand counts. A screenshot or printed copy is fine.
Yes — Cambodia offers an e-visa for Taiwan passport holders. It costs $36 and takes about 3 business days to process. You apply online at evisa.gov.kh. It's valid for 30 days and single-entry. Some travellers prefer this to avoid the queue at the visa on arrival counter.
